2022 Innovation Series: Base Camp

Our Innovation Series introduces unbridled winemaking curiosity and technical exploration into our classic lineup. Each new vintage provides an opportunity to explore different varietals, different techniques, and bend the traditional winemaking rules. These small batch experiments are adorned with original artwork each vintage.
Fresh, zingy, and floral, our BASE CAMP is a preview to our méthode champenoise wine program. Made from 100% Pinot Noir in a Blanc de Noir style, this wine offers an insight to this unique winemaking process and the opportunity to experience the wine’s delightful aromatics and texture prior to the final, bubbleimbuing fermentation stage

Tasting Notes
Brilliantly white peach in color. The nose is intense, with bounding aromas of gummy rings and banana Laffy Taffy. The palate has an electric SweeTart attack, then transitions into a surprisingly creamy and round midpalte then finishes with joy inducing snap.
Vintage Notes
The 2022 vintage was a rollercoaster of a season. The season began with a frost event that affected many parts of the Willamette Valley. Our Estate was spared on account of our later than average budburst date, but most feared the lost of their entire crop. Ample spring rains followed and contributed to bountiful yields across the Valley. We were then graced with one of the the longest seasons in the last decade, one that lasted well into October with sunshine and 80F days. It was an astonishing vintage and a winemaker’s dream.
