Oregon Wine in 2026: a Soft Market, Two Extraordinary Vintages, and the Eola-Amity Hills at 20 Years
By Jeremy Young, International Wine Report
Oregon wine enters 2026 facing softer market conditions, yet the Willamette Valley continues producing exceptional vintages that reinforce its global reputation. The report highlights the Eola-Amity Hills AVA at 20 years, emphasizing the region’s distinctive winds, volcanic soils, and acidity-driven wines.
Bryn Mawr Vineyards stands out among producers helping define the Eola-Amity Hills identity through expressive Pinot Noir and estate-driven winemaking. Its vineyard location along the Van Duzer Corridor contributes freshness, structure, and balance to the wines. The winery has also earned critical acclaim for multiple Pinot Noir releases in recent years.

Willamette Valley Is Becoming America’s Reference Point for Traditional Method Sparkling Wine
Willamette Valley is rapidly emerging as America’s benchmark for traditional method sparkling wine, fueled by technical collaboration and the new Method Oregon quality standard. Among the wineries shaping this movement is Bryn Mawr Vineyards, where Rachel Rose launched an acclaimed inaugural blanc de noirs in partnership with Radiant Sparkling Wine Company.
Autumn’s awesome in Willamette Valley wine country
“Dave Lauer, whose family owns Bryn Mawr Vineyards, points to a break in the silhouette of Oregon’s Coast Range.
“That’s the Van Duzer Corridor,” he says. “When the wind comes blowing through there in the afternoon, we sometimes have to close all the patio umbrellas or they’d go flying off.”
It is 2:30 p.m. on a mid-October afternoon and I can feel the air stirring, but as we linger through the next hour, the umbrellas stay put. I’m a little disappointed about the lack of drama, but not at all in the more-than-spectacular view from both Bryn Mawr’s patio and airy, wood-beamed tasting room. The multicolored Adirondack chairs lining the lawn add a touch of whimsey to the ultra-green, hillside property.“

Tim left Oregon in 1999 to pursue a career in the entertainment industry where he rose to head film restoration artist for Sony Pictures. After a nearly 20 year career as a respected film editor, he felt his passion for wine was pushing him to explore a new direction. He began enology and viticulture classes while closing out a career in film and moved back to the Willamette Valley in 2018 to complete his degree in viticulture management.
