Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2014 Jeffrey’s Block Pinot Noir ($45.00) – Wine & Spirits. April 2017.
Demonstrably savory at the outset, this selection, from Bryn Mawr’s oldest vineyard blocks planted in the early nineties, leads with aromas of wood- smoke, leather and vine bark. The wine does an about-face on the palate, with with a dark core of balsamic-edged black cherry flavor that lasts with uncommon persistence. It’s generous, but penetrating, with supple, persistent tannins that give the wine lift and length. -Patrick J. Comiskey.

Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2014 Estate Pinot Noir ($35.00) – Wine & Spirits. April 2017.
Bryn Mawr’s estate vineyard is just up the road from Bethel Heights in the Eola–Amity Hills, not far from the Van Duzer Corridor, where ocean winds shoot into the appellation. This wine feels like a cool, blustery autumn afternoon, with smoke and olive notes and a feel of burnished wood adorning flavors of umeboshi plum. It’s restrained, with a tannic structure that supports its savory flavors and gives the wine firm persistence.- Patrick J. Comiskey.

93 points “Year’s Best chardonnay”

Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2014 Eola-Amity Hills Reserve Chardonnay ($45.00)- Wine & Spirits. April 2017.
This savory wine smells of caramel flan, of bread crust and, eventually, as the leesiness diminishes with air, of warm roasted pears. It’s rich, and yet in its structure and texture the wine feels suave and elusive, with a creamy purity of expression and a seductive, soft-focus elegance -Patrick J. Comiskey.

92 points  “Cellar Selection”

Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2014 Reserve Pinot Noir ($60) – Wine Enthusiast. April 2017.
Combine the two block selections and you come close to this reserve. There’s good intensity to the black-cherry fruit, and a base of minerality that gives it a mouthfeel as if it had been carved directly out of rock. Tight and age- worthy. Drink 2018 to 2026. Cellar Selection. —P.G

Bryn Mawr Vineyards 2014 Krista’s Block Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills ($45.00)- Wine Enthusiast. April 2017.
This block selection is from the vineyard’s highest elevation vines. It shows extra cut and precision, with min- eral flavors under tight raspberry fruit. Tannins are polished and proportionate, and the wine has a sculpted mouthfeel. It was fermented with native yeast, and aged 15 months in one-quarter new French oak. —P.G.
